Yorks

the Yorks just win out, sounds like. bleyrad, its funny you mention the drywall rooms use the Wharfs, i was just reading how hifi speakers are more designed for reflections and crap.... i get lost in some of the techno babble, but never argue it too often. alot of design goes into these things called speakers.

damn 1 or 2-3 months waiting on monitors...??
their just tools and probably won't be your last set, don;'t sweat it too much.

but hell at this rate.. you maybe ready to upgrade before your Wharfs arrive!!

just joking, it sucks i'm sure. ;)

what about samson samson rubicon vs. esi near 05 expirience vs. wharfedale vs. yorkville ???

especially rubicons ? did read good userreviews about them.

Well I went home for lunch today and guess what was waiting there for me??? .

Yep, ..My Wharfe's!! :D

Deepwater had emailed me this past weekend wondering if they had show up yet........He PM'd me as well earlier this week in regards to gettitng a tracking #.

I don't know much of the details, but I do know that I now have some "decent" monitors for the price.

I've got to figure out how to hook everything up to my Delta 1010 as well, ....I'm guessing I would use a couple of the 8 1/4" outputs(???) I guess then the 1/4" would have to be adapted to an RCA plug to fit the Wharfe's input(??) I see the Wharfe's have a "Banlanced input" as well.>????

I took them out of the box and did a visual inspection......everything looked good. :)

Thanks,
Rick

No, you won't need an adapter. The Wharfedales have a combo XLR/1/4" Neutriks (whatever the spelling is) connector, so you can plug 1/4" straight in.

:)

yeah the "Nuetriks..combo jacks" ..they thru me for a loop the first time too...
they accept XLR/ 3 prong or the 1/4" guitar cable type plugs, pretty slick.

Werner1, glad to hear you got 'em and hope you got a pair...you deserve it at the least for the wait!
sure you'll be testdriving the hell out of 'em.... don't forget to give a update when during a break! :p

I thought that plug looked kind of funny! Well I guess I'll try and locate some nice speaker cables this weekend.

So am I correct in that I would choose two of the eight outputs of my Delta 1010 and use them for my monitor outs? (Sorry about being so stupid in this area, ...this whole PC thing gives me the willies for some reason. )

Also, how do I go about setting up the Wharfe's to be my dedicated speakers on my PC? (I've still got my other soundcard in my tower....it runs my cheapo' altec Lansing speakers. :o )

Uhmmm yes, I did get a pair. :D

Rick

Yep, I should have known..... As soon as I finally gave up waiting and decided to get something else, deepwater would come out of hiding. ;) Because I was anxiously waiting to hear from him was the reason neither of us ever heard from him and it's also the reason why you never got your monitors.... But since I was not wainting any longer that was the green light for you to get your monitors.

It's ok, you can thank me later. :D

Uhmm.. I'll just thank you now. :) THANKS!

I made up some speaker cables using some very good speaker wire and some switchcraft 1/4" ends.

When I first hooked everything up and powered them on, the speakers started humming like there was a ground loop thing going on. I turned the volume all the way down and started playing with how to dedicate all the sounds on my PC to come through the Wharfe's.........this took a few minutes. When I got that done, I decided to try and figure out what the hum was so I slowly turned the volume back up on the Wharfe's, and it was gone!??? I thought this was very weird, but I messed with the speakers for quite a while......like an hour or so........and still no hum, in fact they were crystal clear.

Now I've got to figure out how to get the signal from my Delta to my CEP 2.0 and I'll be off to the races ...........recording that is!! :D
