crap, I didnt realize that you posted that in 2006...haha.....well let me know if you hear of that sale again.

damn I just took some RP6 white limited back to GC for $250 pair!
oh well, the shipping would have sucked up your savings.
and if something happened, you couldn't take em back. I'm not a store.

it can give you an idea of their markup. I took a used pair of JBL's in and GC paid me $125 or something, and had them on the shelf for $275. So figure that in.

fyi...look into the stores policy on returns to...
GC is 14 days not 30 on the monitors.
A 10% restock, unless their Demo's, then no restocking fee.
Although they can do whatever they want usually, but thats what they told me last time was the "standard rule" on monitor returns. 14days.

good luck. enjoy the search..

I'm in the market for homestudio monitors, still undecided for which one of these to buy.

I'd very much appreciate your comments as of which one you'd prefer. Roughly, a pair of KRK RP6s can be purchased for about $400 whereas the Wharfies go for $300.

One last thing, is there much difference between a KRK RP and V II series? The Vs go for about $200 or so more and they have a few "higher grade" features such as better workmanship, materials, power admin, etc. But how about sonically?

Thx a bunch in advance!

I've had the wharfs 8.2 pro actives for 2 1/2 years now. One monitor died on me a few weeks ago, now the other is blowing fuses like crazy. This is not a coincidence when 2 seperate monitors experience almost identical probelms no more than a few weeks apart. Great sounding speakers but you get what you pay for..... REALLY! Also Wharfedale has reduced their warranty from 5 yrs to 3 yrs recently. Wonder why...hmmmm?

I'm currently looking into a more stable/dependable and better built components than the Wharfs. I'm seriously looking at The Mackie HR824 Studio Monitor, The Event Tuned Reference TR5 Active Monitors and the Dynaudio BM5A Powered Studio Monitor. Will pick up one of these 3 pairs for sure this weekend after I audition each pair.

Shame really, the wharfs really did sound awesome while they worked.

Every try to lift a MAckie and then a Wharf? Speaks for itself!

I went in GC to buy the RP6's and they didn't have any so I ended up getting the KRK RP8's. I love them!
