I have one I could sell you....

PM me. . . Still in the market. . .

(How come all the people who have one for sale have like, two posts and zero rep, and the people on Craig'sList seem to forget they have anything for sale, and never reply ? . . . Wazzup wit dat? . . .)

Success ! (of a sort) . . . . . . Although it wasn't my first choice, I pulled the trigger on the MSR-24. .

(My congratulations to whomever sniped me out of the MSR-16 today. May an ithchy, unsightly rash affect your nether regions for several weeks. I paid alot less than you did, and I've got 8 more tracks than you.:p

Many thanks to everyone for your direction and support ! !

Great! The MSR24 is a fantastic machine. I bought one of the last ones made in 1995. Do you have the one with DBX?

I hope it's the DBX version, the Dolby cards tend to die. Lovely machines, though.

Yup. . Called NJ to make sure they could solve any problems and have parts, and when he said "yup", I called the seller and said, "Yup" . . . No one really said too much else. :D

Yes well, all one can do is ask for good packing, and hope for the best. . . It's one of the many trials associated with keeping the format alive. . . The seller dropped the price back, so with shipping, I'm under a grand. . . I have some room to play with if the unit needs anything, so I'm pretty stoked. . .

It's not a 2-inch Otari, but hey, I've got a cat to feed. . . And now some bigger tape to buy. .

Have you looked through this? https://homerecording.com/bbs/gener...-your-recorder-mixer-arrive-one-piece-229729/

Maybe you can send this link to the seller.

Yeah, packing is critical. I shipped a MSR-16 up the west coast (I'm always mentioning this, but it is worth mentioning...) and the MSR-24 is about similar size. NJ to PA is prob less distance I'd imagine??? Any chance you can drive and get it? I followed vintageTX's guide lines in the thread linked to. Used a big TV shipping box, (U-Haul 27" TV box) some rigid insulation, and a metric s*** ton of styrofoam and bubble wrap. Also, made some standoffs for teh transport out of styrofoam, then bubble wrapped around that, and secured anything that moved with tape and more styro stand offs. It took a while to do that, and supplies for shipping were about $30-50 but it was well worth it. Don't be shocked at a $150-200 total shipping cost, including supplies. It's worth it to have it arrive in one piece rather than having to spend that or likely a lot more on repairs.
