I just saw the m-audio delta 1010lt in another post and looked it up. Not to bad for what I'm seeing. So is this the same as the regular 1010 w/o the rack mount box?

Is the wuality the same?

It would be night to have 3 of these cards and wired to a rack mount patchbay permantly and just pulg your stuff into the patchbay !!!

3 cards, 600 dollars total, and 24 analog inputs? NOT BAD !!!
Yeah it eats up your pci slots but who cares !!!

I've been checking into a 2 or 3 card setup, too. I found some good info (though I can't find the link I saved) on this BBS:

http://pub136.ezboard.com/bdelta1010forum

Sorry, I don't remember which thread actually had all the info with posts from folks using 2 and 3 card systems, but it's in there somewhere.

<damn do i hate i gotta dig for that ONE thread again>

Good luck.

P.S. You might wanna check into Hoontech drivers...

As far as the "professional" part, I'm the wrong cat to answer. I just try really, really, REALLY hard, that's all...

It's not quite the same. You lose the balanced connectors. You get the preamps, but no one seems to talk about them and you don't have phantom on them...

And you're never quite sure with multi-card m-audio setups. Echo and Aardvark are more sure fire things if you're looking specifically multicard.

All those unbalanced analog outs in the back... I remember seeing a few forum posts about how the unterminated ends were so noisy...

I still have an audiophile, and I like it, but man was that second card annoying...

I use it at home and get good results. The pre's aren't great (but thats not really surprising considering the price) and the inputs are unbalanced (something most pro-studios would frown upon).

For the price though (and actually even when I compare it to more expensive setups), I'm really, really happy with it. I've read reviews that compare it to the 1010 and even though the converters in the 1010 are supposedly better, the differences are apparently negligible (although I've never compared them myself so don't take my word for it). You don't get the benefits of the breakout box on the LT, but if you were planning on using a patchbay anyway that's not such a problem.

What's the price difference between the 1010 and the LT? How much noise will unbalanced lines introduce in to your system? Will the difference in converter quality make that much difference to your recordings? Take those things in to account and I guess you'll probably have your answer.

For me, I'd rather spend more on reasonable mic's and pre's than my audio interface. Yeah I understand weakest links in chains and what have you, but pound for pound I get more options and bigger improvements in my sounds spending on those things.

True... I've noticed that too on my Delta 410. But I hardly ever use the analog i/o, just the spdif so I leave the dongle off most of the time and that helps a lot.

Anppilot1,

Go here & do a search for "Dual Delta 1010s" - it's the title of a thread or look between pages 3-6. A few guys w/multicard systems & the quirks or lack therof...

I'm going for the MOTU 24/io at tax time. I have a delta 1010 right now. I certainly can't bitch about it. It's a pretty nice unit. I have heard all kinds of bad stuff about using multiple 1010's though. I'm not gonna even fuck around with it. That's why I'm doin the MOTU. It's gonna go nice with my new Soundtracs 32 chan. console:D

ooohh... that Motu is nice!!... Could you possibly report back on how that setup works out for you. I'm interested in that unit.

Yep, no prob. Only be a couple of months now. I'd have it now but I blew the cash on the console.:( I guess I gotta have both and the MOTU will always be there, the console wouldn't have.

Looks like as long as your using two 1010lts works fine then.
