Solar Power!!
re: Studios Under Construction site.

Well.. after searching around I have found a free site at angelfire so we are up and going with 50 meg.

BTW angelfire wouldn't accept any file that had a break in it like control room.jpg so I had to change those that did, I hope I got them all, please check your pages and let me know if I missed any or there are any other glitches.

I must thank Brian for the web space he's so willingly given us, and the enthusiasm he has constantly shown in the whole venture, it's still our site, thanks mate :D

Cheers
John

John,

it's great to see the site back up and running, all seems to be ok............but for anyone running a firewall, you will find it constantly bombarded by Angelfire. It isn't malicious probing BUT it is a bloody annoyance, I hazard a guess that it is associated with advertising, but I figure that's how Angelfire derives it's income.

Again John, thanks for your efforts in keeping this whole thing alive hopefully later this year I will have some contributions of my own for the "studio galleries"

Regards......

Ahhh shucks!

Well thank you John for saving my ass when I didn't know what to do! :D

I want to let everyone know what actually happened... About a year ago I had a friend of mine set up my website for me. Getting the web hosting, and registering the domain name greysfiles.com. Well, when he was corresponding with NetMegs, who is the host of my site, he gave HIS e-mail address as the contact and NOT mine. So, for probably 3 months HE was getting notifications from NetMegs that it was time to renew my site, and he DIDN'T forward the messages to me! What an A**HOLE! I was wondering this whole time why I had such little contact with my webhost. Well, it's because my friend was getting everything I should have been.
So, hopefully we won't have to put up with the stupid advertisments at Angelfire for too long. The guy at NetMegs said that because I actually wasn't getting the notifications that when I do pay the $150 for the next year, he'll restore everything exactly the way it was before it went down. Normally if you don't pay they tell you to scew off, but the people understood that I wasn't actually getting the notifications.

By the way, if anyone would like my "friend's" e-mail address so you can tell him how he screwed up, and he pissed everyone off, just send me an e-mail. I'll be happy to give his address to anyone who asks for it. Needless to say, I won't be working with him anymore in the future.

Thanks everyone,
-Brian

hehe... Way to go, Brian... hope my "child neglegance" case goes as well for me as your site did with Netmegs...

I'm TOTALLY joking, btw. Heya, I visited the site, noticed that the third picture down (on the Kelly Holdridge Studio site) is a broken link. Also, I'm interested in sending ya'll an "update" that is basically a design for an outer sound-retaining wall (the neighbors are gettin' pissed). This will probably happen in the next week or so, so in addition to some good pics of us puttin up MASS and TRAPPED AIR, you might get some emergency e-mail lookin' for solutions to unforseen problems...

:D

Hey, John, love the slat resonators. Been showin' them to all the band buds, trying to get them warmed up for a studio visit here pretty soon. The quality and color of the pictures are great, but I could see you putting a fish-eye lens on your camera and REALLY showing everyone your new digs. We hired a photographer this last weekend, and HOLY MOLY does a wide-angle lens change things...

AS FOR YOU, Mr. Brian Grey, well... How am I supposed to earn pride and respect showing off everybody's site when I keep running into Tony Clifton on your last update? :D Really, now... I'm dyin' to see your next update, it's gonna be cool, I know it...

Hey, if you're able to buy a lot more space with a little more money, would you be interested? I'd like to put some pictures/diagrams up (I downloaded SmartDraw and am currently cleaning up my love juice... :D), but have little experience or knowledge of web hosting, etc. I think it'd be cool to send one of ya'll some cash in exchange for the opportunity to put more and more pics up in our individual studio pages. Whaddaya think?

Thanks again for the site, I'm sure I speak for the rest of us when I say it's great and appreciated.

Well Kelly, for your information it's not Tony Clifton, but he did stop at my place to use the bathroom. Frank is Tony's brother. He too is an alchi loung singer. He's working on his gut, do you like it? And don't ask how Pete is related to Frank... :D

My next update... I don't know when that will be. Truthfully we havn't done much since those pictures were taken, which is a little bit depressing. We've done work, but it's not really stuff that makes for great pictures. We've run wires through the ceiling, and we've mounted outlets on the walls, and we've done lots of muding for the drywall seams (did I spell that right?). All of this stuff has taken a long time to do, BUT, why would we take pictures of it? The pictures would look just like the last update. So until we start doing some work that you can really see, we're not going to update. I just don't have the time these days to go through updating for pictures that won't show much. I'm starting a new semester today, woo hoo! That means I'm a third of the way done! Only two more, just 8 months.

I'd be willing to look into buying more space for the website if people wanted to send some cash. I'm dry right now when it comes to money. The only way I'm really going to have the cash to get the website going again is from John if he feels it in his heart to send me the money.

If you want to make me feel like George Baily, e-mail me, get my home address, and send me money :)

Later,
-Brian

I agree Kelly - we hadn't entirely finished the construction but when it is finished we will bring a good photographer, you are quite correct, they do take better pics. BTW I'll check that link for you. Why not send the money you would pay for a website to Brian and I'll do you a site?? ($150 US is $300 OZ)

cheers

Great work guys....

on getting the studio site back up. Thanks a million!!

Hey John, well, I did it, I went out yesterday 2-24-01 and bought the 7'2" Boston Semi Concert Grand Piano!!
It's supposed to be delivered Monday or Tuesday of this week!

Man I can't wait, that piano, vs. my old one is like the difference between a rusty bicycle and a Lambergini!

Brian/John you guys should check out doteasy.com
I've had my little dinky website there for about 3 months now and so far it's been great.
They don't put any ads on your pages ... because they make their money when you register your url through them.
I got 20mb storage and my own url (for 1 yr) for $25.
I don't think theres been any downtime since I've been on there, only one server slow-down (which they sent me 3 emails about :) ) and never once a problem with uploading files.

Anyway ... check it out. You can probably increase the storage space if you wanted.

PS ... thanks again for letting us put our pics there and keeping it going! ... I gotta get a wide angle lens now! ;)

Michael - you are going to *LOVE that Boston*. Make sure that the dealer pays for the first two tunings. We were fortunate enough to have the best tuner in OZ living round the corner. He does the opera house pianos, the conservatorium and Elton when he tours. :)
He spent 2 days lining up each key for action etc.
It sounds wonderful. Sorta like a cross between a Yamaha (Brightness) and a Steinway (warmth)
Your a lucky man - hey what did you pay for it in the US??

chers
John

John:

Yep, first 2 tunnings are free, thats pretty standard stuff I think with pianos.
I'm getting a new piano technician to tune and adjust this baby though, a guy that works exclusively on Stienway's and Boston's.

What did I pay for it? Man, I'm almost embarrassed to tell you! It was list at $37,000 U.S.
I got them down to $33,500, and then dropped my trade on them. They gave me what I paid for it 5 years ago, $8650. Then I put down $8,000 and financed the rest.

Kinda like buying a new car, but I'll have this piano for much longer than I would a new car!

Now, If this piano, coupled with 2 Neumann TLM 103's, an ART PRO MPA Tube pre-amp, and my 24 bit recording software doesn't give me the "pure essence of piano" that is so elusive.... well, I'll still enjoy the piano.
