Many folks here don't know that mshilarious, (Jon O'Neill) was appointed moderator of this forum by the owners of HomeRecording.com. He is also the owner of
Naiant , a microphone manufacturer. As of today's date this is not disclosed in his HomeRecording.com profile.
If you were familiar with our TOS (at this point I expect you are; for all others see the link at the bottom of every page), you would realize that there is no such requirement. In fact, members may be anonymous if they so choose. That includes manufacturers. I don't specifically choose to be anonymous, but honestly I don't really care either way, I am perfectly happy for people to know who I am, and indeed many people do. I am not here to solicit business in any way, shape, or form, and both my posts and what and where I do not post make that abundantly clear.
There is also no rule that manufacturers cannot slag each other off here. Kind of funny, you can say any rude thing you want about me (or MXL, or AEA, or JJ, whomever you like/dislike) and it's not against the rules. It's extremely gauche, but fair play. On the other hand, when you do it on GS, you risk your posting privileges. Their rule, not ours. They are a more enlightened board, right?
There is also no rule that prohibits pissing matches, and importantly there is no expectation among the membership that moderators intervene to prevent them. In fact, our members tend to get angry when moderators do intervene in such matters. They prefer to duke it out, and as long as no physical threats are issued, we let them be.
Legal threats, as you might have noticed, do not constitute physical threats. So when you threatened me with a lawsuit, I did not moderate that post, nor did I attempt to have you banned. How many BBSs would tolerate a threat of legal action against their moderation team without revoking said litigant's posting privileges? Not too many, I would think. We are special
The only moderation that really exists here is spam, which I do vigorously enforce. As I have explained multiple times, under that rule manufacturers are not allowed to start threads promoting their products; however, they may participate in discussions about their products started by nonaffiliated members.
So it should be quite clear that this thread is entirely permitted within our TOS, therefore there has been no moderation, nor should there be any moderation. I've done an excellent job
Anyway, your ideas will have to stand on their merits, that goes for Dr. Bill, Dr. PhilGood, Marik, Gus, me, everybody else here.
Enjoy!
