As long as I've been a member here, I've never seen anyone (certainly not in this forum) asking about the things I think you make passive reference to in your post re: machine-based music. How many cats with MPCs or RSs know their machine well enough to use it's limitations to their advantage? How about knowing the cool features of each machine from programming perspectives? Strengths, weaknesses? Next to zero, i'd bet. Nobody asks how to create a sound from a sine wave or white noise, or even know what other types of waves there are (sawtooth, etc) and what any of that shit truly means. Instead, we all wanna know just where to find a goddamn sample of something most of us have the gear/software to make in a matter of minutes (or less). Nobody cares about programming shit (beyond what they can do already - boom-bip, da-boom-bip), and i'll bet most these midi-heads don't even know (for example) what the fuck a CC# is, what they're for, how to change them, and when & why. How many cats you see on here asking questions or offering commentary about any sort of synthesis to make cool new sounds? How many even know off tops what ADSR means? Gotta have a clue if you're off to do some intersting "electronica," if you ask me. So, many of us use computers as tools/instruments to make music, big deal. Nobody hates on that. Recording is recording is recording, give or take having to mic something live and routing it to one's mixer/recorder, or simply assigning a softsynth to a channel within or outside of your software. Why is it that people think recording beats is any different than recording anything else? Driving is the same, give or take a nuance or two, no matter what kind of vehicle it is you're driving. Sure, some vehicles require additional or modified skill sets, but still, the clutch, gas, and brake pedal flow left to right, regardless...djfd

Just to make sure people read it twice.

(the above posts do not apply to subtractor; he knows what's going on!)

Oughta make this a sticky. Cats who haven't checked in for a while prolly wont see this if its not right up front.

NOBODY posts on the dj/hip-hop/rap/beats any sort of "electronica," which, as I understand it, isn't hip-hop. Yeah, sure, we all use samplers & shit to make tracks, but when I produce a reggae track or blues thingy, it's no more "electronica" than Linton Kwesi Johnson or Muddy Waters, save some of the actual tools I used to make the music. I do not see the difference......

What is the physical difference of posting the song in this forum, as opposed to physically posting the same song in the other forum.

aaaand, if there were no difference, then there'd be no difference and it wouldn't matter where people posted their shit. Seems to me you perceive a difference, otherwise you wouldn't be so vehement...

Dear Mr. Moderator...

If shit's serious about keeping mp3s and shit in a different forum, I can't tell. More & more people throw shit up in this forum, and with no sticky for this thread (or a new one that explains the rules), we can't really fault anybody for not adhering. That, coupled with our beloved moderator not moving all these damn "check my shit out" threads into the appropriate forum has once again clogged the page with something like 8 NEW "suck my dick cuz I'm so dope" threads.

If shit ain't gonna be respected or enforced, then why we even front like it is? We got 3 (?) pages in this thread alone, but day after day, month after month NOTHING CHANGES. I can't lay all the responsibility on the cats who post their shit here, as they don't have the power to change shit up & make it right.

I'm just saying that if the people who have the power to fix shit don't do it, then why not delete this thread instead of letting it float around BELOW all the new posts to listen to people's beats? Already, it looks to me like folks don't give a fuck, and if "the powers that be" aren't willing (or able) to keep shit in order, then shouldn't this thread disappear? As I see it, it looks like we've been talking about it, but not being about it. Wish I could delete my posts in this thread. Why? Because it doesn't matter. If another 3-4 months goes by with this thread treading water, but nobody who is capable makes the changes take effect, then we'll all just look like we talk a lot of shit. And I, for one, don't talk any shit that I can't back up.

C'mon, Commander, make it so...

still,

Damn Right!!

Its about time someone said something. I've been on this board for months now and when i was told where to place my beats i listened. Not because i was told, but because i respected the rules of the forum. This is rediculous, PUT YOUR DAMN BEATS/SOUNDS/MUSIC/ANYTHING ELSE IN THE (say it with me now) MP3 MIXING CLINIC.

NOW THAT WAS NOT HARD, moderator please drop it like its hot!!

Great track spin

Spook, really like it, it is just screaming for a raging male rapper to finish it off.

Only two suggestions:

1. Layer the snare with something else, it sounds a touch (just a touch) general midi at the moment.

2. End the track at 4:30, its the natural ending, dont reprise the core elements after that or you are entering repetitive land.

Good work,
K
