The Way It Moves
So, I got the Waves SSL plugins. For some reason, I made my drummer's kick drum just come alive whereas the built in EQ that comes with Audition I just can't get to sound right. I'm not sure what it is, but the Waves SSL EQ is heavenly. I love it. I got the whole kit to come alive :)

Is the "quality" of this plugin better than the stuff that comes with the software or do I, whatever reason, suck at using the graphical EQ?

The SSL plugins do sound different than most stock plugins. In some cases it's better. Sometimes it isn't.

personally, I love the Waves SSL pack. Primarily I use it on drums when using the channel strip, I use the buss comp on drum mixes and vocal busses, and the EQ section for guitar busses and sometimes on overheads.

I have messed around with some of the Waves stuff... the SSL bundle didn't impress me. the metering on the buss comp was weird (or at least I couldn't figure it out), and it didn't sound particularly fantastic or special enough to justify the price.

I dunno, maybe thats just me. these days I try to use as few plugs as possible so don't listen to me...

Out of curiosity, what was weird about the metering? That SSL comp definately has a different vibe than all the other software comps I have used.

I love the Waves SSL plugs........and if have not downloaded the Chris lord ALGE presets........do it!

those presets are awesome starting points for drums........but beware of using his preset for electric guitar....it tends to be pretty bright.

but like all presets, its a starting point....and tweak from there......

I couldn't figure out how to monitor the input signal. maybe I'm just an idiot.

there is no input meter on the SSL comp; only the gain reduction
