Locking a track wouldn't accomplish that either. Locking a track or region just prevents an inadvertent move or edit.

Processing the effects to the tracks and the removing or freezing the real-time plug-in would be the way to keep real-time plug-ins from taxing the CPU.

That's what I had mentioned in my first post of this thread with regard to rendering via audiosuite, Glen was asking about locking the changes. Please read all of the posts in order to get the correct context of the replies.

My apologies, I must have missed that one the first read through. I was more on a quest to defend my beloved Pro Tools. I'll butt out now.

No prob Zeppe. I often find that I have to come to the defense of PT, often because of someone not fully understanding the capabilities of program, and other times just because people just don't like corporations like Digidesign.

I'm personally not a fan of some of the proprietary tactics that they use, but every major corporation that I know of does this from Apple to whatever Z company you can think of.

That's not to say there aren't other great DAWs out there, it's just that PT is one of them.

Knowing how and when to use them???

shit. you're just trying to aggravate me, Rami. I know how you are

I'm just experimenting with this stuff b/c all I really know is protools stock plugins. But I've been learning that it'd be best if I got atleast a few decent plugins to work with.

thanks for all the help

Just for the record, Tom, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was trashing PT. I admit that I am not a big fan of it for several reasons that mean something to me, but don't necessarily mean as much to others (and no, it's not an anti-Digidesign bias.)

But at the same time, there's no question that it is a perfectly fine, fully-capable system that is the "standard' amongst pros and that there are probably far more fine productions coming off of PT systems than probably most others put together, and that it at least deserves respect if nothing else.

Some people prefer Skil tools, others prefer Craftsman. But if the carpenter is qualified, they can build the same quality of house using either one. I'm not dissing Craftsman when I say I prefer Skil. Just expressing personal - and subjective only - preference.

Hehe...Calm down man.:laughings:

You asked for alternatives and I thought I gave a pretty clever one. It was a general statement, not directed at you personally.

yes it was a wise one, you wise ass.;)

and if I get any calmer people will start following me around trying to worship me for their religion and shit.
