I have a question for people that know about wavelab.

when compressing the mix, is it best to compress left and right channel separately or compress them at the same time?

What do you mean? Aren't you using a stereo compressor?

You should use a good multi-band compressor like the Waves C4.

The reason why you should use a linked-channel stereo compressor (doesn't have to be multiband) is to avoid having the stereo image suddenly shift to the left or the right if something panned to one side triggers the compressor only on the left or right - which would lower only one side of the mix and make the music suddenly sound like it was shifted to the opposite side. That would be very distracting to the listener.

With a linked stereo compressor, whatever happens in one channel happens equally in the other.

Yeah... they're one of its strongest points...

Wish I could use things like that on my VS :(
