Wavelab / HD24 compability issue + solution.
I was asked by Ed to check out a thing with the HD24.. Download a track from the HD24, apply a DirX effect, and upload it again.. So I did..
I created a new song, recorded some silence. uploaded a 24 bit wav to replace one of the tracks. no prob here.
Downloaded the new track, opened it in Sound Forge 5.0, applied some Waves L1+, uploaded it.. No prob..
Downloaded it again, opened it in Wave Lab 4, applied some Waves L1+, saved the file.. it grew from 2,077MB to 2,096MB... I tried to upload it... impossible.. Then I just opened and immediately saved it in Sound Forge.. the file was now 2,077MB again, and was now possible to upload... straaaaaaange...
So, apparently Wavelab adds something to the .wav so that the HD24 doesn't recognize it as a 24bit .wav.. (note.. the original silent file was 1+MB, the file I replaced it with was 2.077MB.. so size is not the problem)
Maybe this will be addressed in a future software upgrade from Alesis...
Edit: Also checked editing with Cool Edit Pro .. no problem to upload afterwards.
Edit2: To get rid of this problem you have to follow these steps in Wave Lab.
Preferences -> File, UNcheck 'create optimized audio file headers'
The file won't grow in size, and it's possible to upload it to the HD24.
