I recorded several audio tracks earlier this week. Mixdown finished a couple of days ago. Now, I try to convert my wrk files to wave files for cd burning doing these procedures: 1) Highlight chosen tracks to be exported>tools>mixdown>bounce to tracks>mix to a single stereo event>than highlight the new bounce track>tools>mixdown audio>export to wave file in drive d. 2) Same as 1 but with the exception of bouncing process (just go straight to export). Needless to say I get this message in the ACTIVE MOVIE CONTROL window saying "An invalid media type was specified" when I try to play it with ms media player or play back with Cakewalk. I checked the properties of the recently exported wave file and it says that it is type: wave sound and the ms-dos name is: test.wav. I don't know what the problem is? Any help, comments, or suggestions are welcome.

Stratman - What's the bit rate of your Cakewalk file? If you're recording at 24 bit, when you export to .wav file it will also be 24-bit. I don't believe Media Player will play a 24-bit file. You need to convert to 16 bit somewhere in the process.

What you can try is open a new project in CW. Insert the .wav file into track 1 of the new project (Insert -> Wave File). Once you have the .wav in CW, go to Tools -> Change Audio Format -> and select 16 bit. Then highlight the track and re-export it to a new .wav file.

Thanks to the tech support, Dachay2tnr. I manage to find out how to convert all my 24 bit tracks to 16 bits and that enabled me to record to cd. Great 411.
