Musicmatch has a free player that converts, and most of your cd burning software should have some way to do this also.

Lamedrop

Couldn't be easier. Just drag n' drop WAV files on it, and MP3s come out. Right click for encoding options (you can even specify a lowpass filter).

The software is free. Instructions for how to install it will cost you $69.95.

Yeah, I would stay away from iTunes. I think Audacity will do it(with the lame encoder), but I would have to double check.

I used to use Audiograbber with the LAME convertor. Is that considered a pretty good convertor, and what do you guys hate about iTunes?

audiograbber is the bomb, but mp3's suck, encode in ogg vorbis so much better

Is poweramp free again?

Last time I looked they had some crap on their site about how it was no longer legal to offer a free mp3 convertor. I like poweramp so I paid the 15 bucks or whatever it was.
