Is poweramp free again?

Last time I looked they had some crap on their site about how it was no longer legal to offer a free mp3 convertor. I like poweramp so I paid the 15 bucks or whatever it was.

This one is still free I think http://www.nch.com.au/switch/

yeah its not free my trial just ran out

damn!!!

i really liked that too

im thinking about just buying the DB PowerAmp

but do i have to wait for the sorfware to arrive at my house or will it just give me a code or something?

Are you running Windows XP? why dont you just use media player to do it?

and how does one go about doing that??

If you put the wav files on a cd (burn it as an audio cd, not a data cd) then media player will just rip them all or any of them you choose. Open media player and click on the RIP tab.

If you go to Tools - Options - Rip you can tell it what format you want (mp3 or wma) and what bitrate you want, up to 320. It's fast and painless......

Only thing is I've never tried to do it with wav files that are just on the hard drive. I've only done it with wav files that I've already burned to cd. But if all you want is conversion to mp3, media player already comes with windows. You dont have to download or buy a seperate program just to convert to mp3. It will convert your favorite cd to mp3 files in just 2 or 3 minutes.

What kind of sound card does yourcomputer have in it?

that kinda blows its a long process and you waste a CD

For one thing, you said you wanted to do it for "free"......

And, number 2, I have never considered burning wav's to a cd to be a waste of a cd. If the wav aint worth having on a cd, then it aint ready to convert to mp3 yet either. I archive all of my wav's on cd when I'm done mixing them.

But obviously your computer must have a sound card, right? Most sound cards come with a little software package and some utilities, etc. Every sound card I've ever bought has included a utility for converting wav to mp3. I have a 15 year old soundblaster that has a mp3 converter in it called Digital Audio Center. But this idea is useless if you are just running computer sound from the onboard or "integrated" sound device. If that's the case, I would suggest you go buy a sound card that comes with a bunch of utilities and demo programs. If it wont convert to mp3 then it aint worht buying.
