So I'm looking to get into home recording, making mostly hip hop beats and also recording electric guitar with vocals. I would have to say that my budget is about 850, but I guess I would be willing to push that to 900. (I'm a student that gets out of school at 6pm every day so it's hard to get a job, just managed to get this money together selling old computer hardware and my old guitar. :D)

So anyways i guess I'm just going to divide this into sections of the stuff I (think) I need. Sorry if this turns into a giant wall of text, which it might. I just want to spend this money right.
So.....

1-Speakers/Monitors/headphones

I already have really nice computer speakers, and a nice sub, do I absolutely need monitors? I also have a nice pair of studio headphones.

2-Microphone

I already have a at2020 so that'll do for now.

3-Mixer
I don't think I need one, but maybe later down the line.

4-Computer
I have a PC right now, which is plenty capable.
AMD Phenom II x4 955
6GB ddr3 1600 RAM
7200rpm 1tb HDD
HD 4890 video card

5-MIDI controller
I think that I'm going to go with the m-audio axiom 49, because it has the right amount of keys, pads, and really everything I need, unless you guys suggest something else.

So all thats really left is a audio interface and software, and I have about 600-650 bucks left for it. I DJ, so I have a copy of Ableton Live 8, and the multimedia academy at my school gave me copy of cubase 5. So that's what I have, but, of course I hear everywhere that Pro Tools is the industry standard. If that is so, I would love to learn how to use it.

So as far as an interface goes, I think I'm gonna go firewire, just a why not thing, since it does have faster speeds, etc. I have one firewire 1394a, 400 port. So basically what I need in the interface is MIDI ports, ports for guitar and the like, at least 2 mic inputs w/ preamp, and room to expand. The Mbox 2 pro seems to have all this, and it comes with pro tools LE 8, for about 550. The other option would be the m audio profire 610 with protools m-powered, same price.
Any better options though?

Thanks :o
