Are you guys not bored with this thread yet?

Hey Hix, what do foriegners have to do with anything and why do you think I'm afraid of them? The question was raised early on in this tread asking how did buying foriegn made music equipment boister local economies. I happen to have a love of vintage stuff and most quality vintage instruments and amps are US made- yeah there are lots of really cool foriegn made vintage things out there, but they don't always play or sound well--- I don't like guitars that won't stay in tune and I chose old tubes over new microchips ......and as for my answer to the question in question --- you don't get subtle humor, do you? And as I also pionted out before, why the name calling? So what my principles and ideas may not agree with yours. That doesn't make me wrong and is that any reason to be hostile? Jeez, and they say conservatives are intolerent......By the way, Hix, what is my number? Perhaps I could use it when I purchase my next powerball ticket.

And C7sus, Let my be so kind as to guote you, "..........yeah, like that's gonna happen..........."

Who the hell do you guys think made all the friggin trade deals with the Chinese?!!!!

Look it up and discover for yourself.

I'll give ya a hint.....it rhymes with "the guy who got a blow job in the oval office".

ahhhh politics...........

lol.

Anyway I gotta vote for the big stores. Prices are always better, usually A LOT better. I'm sick of going into the small stores and looking through their amazing section of peavey and samick guitars. I was actually asked once...."would you like to try THE american strat" (yeah 1 in stock)

I enjoy most of Mars and Guitar Center. When I really care about price...zzounds.com I don't know if anyone has bought from there but it's great. They always take care of me, they always have great prices (they match ANYTHING), and their customer service is TOP NOTCH. One time they told me the wrong shipping day (off by one day) so their sent me a pair of akg headphones ($35) for free. No I don't work there :) but if I lived in NJ I might consider it.

Ive got to say that Ive bought more from the chains now than I ever had from the small shops. For one thing a small shop usually thinks thier equipment is alot more valuable than it really is. I sometimes find that pawn shops are the same way.

Example; a Jimmy Page double epiphone at the mars is 499.00

Ive seen this used at pawn brokers for 1200.00 used and at small shops for over 1000.00, And when you tell them the mars price for new they will not budge form it, They even will call you a liar to your face instead of checking out the price on mars.com.

I totally blame this on Bush, that Bastard!!

I feel sorry for you guys that you have to choose between expensive local stores with knowledgeble guys and cheap MARS stores.

I for one support MY local store, Estrad, which has loads of knowledgeable guys, and quite often undercut everybody else in town pricewise. They ROCK!

Yeah! What's the deal with these pawn shops. Why are they always trying to sell old and used effects, stomp boxes, amps, etc. for "new" prices on them. I tell them I just have to drive a mile down the road to Guitar Center and get a new one for the same price. Still they don't budge.

After the merchandise sits for a long time they do get edgy and make a deal eventually. So be patient and wait for them to sweat.

the small shops also must match Mars or musicians friend to get my buisness. sometimes they do match the prices but for the most part no.

Hixie,

next time pull out your 9-millimeter and ask them if they'd take the bullets for a trade.....works for me......

gidge-

mine's a helluva alot longer than 9 millimeters! :D
