VS890 "Tape Echo Sim" vs "Chandler Stereo Echo DD"

Hello, was wondering if you guys are familiar with the VS890's "Tape Echo Sim" and Chandler's "Stereo Echo DD" rackmount.
When I play back the "Tape Echo Sim" knowing it has chorus and EQ added to the effect, the stereo field is almost ((surround)) like. But when I try to activate the Chandler Stereo DD by itself, it sounds like a mono DD? I do have the standard routings for the Chandler: VS890's Aux stereo out to Chandlers L/R ins, Chandlers 1/4" outs to 3&4 inputs of the VS890. I also configured the VS to accept external effects according to "Using External Effects" in the "Owners Manual" book.
The Chandler sounds mono compared to the VS890's "Tape Echo" simulator. What can I do to find out if the Chandler is truely hooked up right and working in stereo?
The Chandler is a basic "2 tone only" digital delay "tape echo" simulator and IMO, its the best "tape echo" sim on the planet!
It has regular DD, and a "high cut" switch to activate the smooth warm "tape echo" simulation.

The problem may be that you are actually feeding it a stereo signal. What are you sending to it?

For stereo delays you are better off sending a mono signal so that you arent fighting with the stereo field on the delays.
