wats a good vox mic for 200.. i have no large diapram condenser mics at all.. im using a sm 57 at the time for vox.. but want to get a new mic... i record other bands .. so the mic wont have to fit my vocal style or anything..will be used for tracking rock/indie vox and maybe some acoustic guitar.

Audition a bunch of them, and get the one you like best. Some suggestions: *used Rode NT1000, *used Audio Technica 4033, *new CAD M177, *new Rode NT-1a, *new Studio Projects C1, *new Oktava MK319

I've got a C3000 I'll sell ya for $200.

Does that sound fair?

I think that's fair.:D

give me a few days to research some more and think about it.. then ill tell ya whether or not im buying it.... why are u selling it?

You know a lot of people are going to think I'm nuts for saying this and their going to rub their eyes in disbelief when they read this, but here it is. If the mic isn't for anyone one singer in particular, checkout the "797 Audio/Studio Projects C1" mic... it doesn't work for everyone, but either does any other mic... and, I'd get it before I'd get an AKG C3000.

If you can expand your budget by an extra $100, I'd say Shure SM-7 all the way. Especially if you need something versatile that will sound good on a lot of different voices.

MHO.

If you're going to record rock/pop/rap vocals in a dense mix, you can't beat the C1 for under $200. It's got the highs and lows, but the mids are kind of scooped.

OTOH, if you want a very good sounding all around mic, I've heard some VERY good recordings using the $99 MXL V67 on vocals and acoustic instruments.

Maybe you should plan to get them both. :)

I think the only reason, or biggest reason why anyone on this mic forum would sell a mic is because they don't really like it. ;)

The sun is shining dude! :)

man the sun is indeed shining!

one thing to consider is that more expensive may not necessarily mean better, so the idea of two cheaper mics may well be a viable one to give you more options. listen to a load and as always listen to something that costs twice the price so you know what you're missing out on and what you'd like to hear more of in the cheaper ones.

chess is right, you will NEVER outgrow the sm7.
