Volume Question...........

I would like to know if there is a way(or some kind of effect to use) to make the mixed down audio louder. its not that it sounds muffled or anything its just that it doesnt have that crisp clean punchy drums, guitar or bass that the professional artist. i know i can just turn up the master volume after you mix down but then you get it to clip some times. i am using cakewalk guitar tracks 2.....but i am looking for my sonar 2 cd and i cannot find it ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!so please leave an answer for both programs..i am gonna buy a sonic maximizer for my guitar and bass......do you think that would help???i am gonna run my guitar and bass and drums through my DigiTech GNX3 GeNetX™ Guitar Workstation and then into the sonic maximizer, all direct.Thanks alot!

Is there anyway to get another copy
of sonar if i dont have the box?!?!Its way
better than guitar tracks 2 in my opinion.thanks

The sonic maximizer won't help that much. Running your tracks through all that stuff will probably just add more noise and make them more muffled. You need to start with the right tones and record them well. If you need stuff louder then use compression or limiting to raise the volume.

if you go to goldwave.com there is a nifty editor called goldwave that does
all sorts of tricks/mastering processes etc. if all you simply want to do is raise volume and assuming your peaks are not already at the maximum of +-
32000 in value then simply highlight the whole file in goldwave and apply a volume boost and write out a new file. you might also try some of the other features in goldwave to see if you can get more presence etc if thats what you are after. hth.
