So here's the big question now that I'm just about sold out of Volume One.

Is there enough demand to do a second run, or do we move on and focus on Volume II?

If I do a second run of Volume One, it will not appear as a numbered limited edition...not that it's that big of a deal or anything, just warning you.

If I put a second order in, how many do I have duped? 50, 100? Personally I don't think we'd sell 100...but...

Input, please!

(note, I'm kind of leaning against another run because I really don't want my stupid Hindsight song to be heard by anyone else....ouch) :)

I wouldn't vote for a second run unless there are some banners or something on the site that lets it be known about......and 50 would be the limit....who knows, maybe some contributors might buy another one for a gift or something.......Ed may have gone ballistic (how unusual) but he does have a legit point......

"Hindsight" is a great song, btw............and I'm not just saying that because I want you............gibs

I've been lazy about it but if there are any left, I'd like to pick one up.

There are a couple left...read the destructions for ordering

I agree with gibs... no second run unless you (we) decide on some sort of advertising campaign.

Otherwise, let it be the only limited edition. Somebody should put one in a time capsule.

I have lower GI distress... must go now.

If Volume II sells well, you could do another run on the first Volume. The only recommendation I would have is to change the cover art so it's easier to differentiate between the limited runs.

naw...I wouldn't do a second run...

I'd just post the songs up at nowhere or something like that...:p

congrats on the CD, btw...

I vote for a second run of one or two more CD's.

One for me because they're now sold out (one day before I realized they were actually on sale).

Two if Track Rat still needs one.

;)

One of the things I've been doing for alot of artists lately, is mass print compilations. I.e., each artist chips in to cover costs, 1,000-2,000 CDs are professionally pressed. CDs could each be sold at $4 a piece for a 100% profit margin, and could raised for higher.

Most of the guys I'm dealing with right now get 2,000 printed, give away 1,000 of them through the net (including shipping handling), give each artist 50-100 of them to sell, and each artist makes a nice profit and gets their name all over the place, all for around $100-$150 an initial investment from each artist.

The other option is the ODCD one I talked to you about, no upfront cost, none printed until ordered. Less of a profit margin because it's more expensive to print one up, but no initial expense, and no risk.

I'd certainly like to get a HomeRec compilation CD in my hands, just don't think I can afford $20USD (That's about $34 CDN, which is enough to feed me for a week and a half).

I'd vote for another run.

I've downloaded quite a bit of stuff from the MP3 forum and am tremendously impressed.

I vote for moving on to Volume ll and doing a second run of volume one after volume ll comes out. I think it would be wise to limit contributions to Volume ll to all the original artists and to anyone that bought Volume l that can cut the mustard.

Dude.. no one told me.

Man the first suggestion I have to make is to get together some kind of e-mail list to announce to all those interested that the thing came out. I posted time after time for the past year and a half about this comp CD and was always told... it's coming, It's coming!!! Then it came, sold out, and I found out about it wondering through the TASCAM forumout of bordom.

Hell yeah I vote for a second run. I am really honestly disapointed at how this has been handled. You could have at least written down everyone's e-mail address and sent a mass e-mail telling everyone what was up.

How can I get a copy? I would take a damn burned copy. I dont care about some fancy pro duplicated thingy with everyone's credits etc. Just a song list and the CD. I mean I would definitly prefere to have the liner notes and the whole shabang, but if it is sold out and you aren't going to do another run then I would settle for a burned version. What do you say?

How many did you produce to begin with anyway? 100? A bit short sighted don't ya think?

ChuckU

Hey Slackmaster... is there anywhere on the web where you have posted a picture of the CD cover?

ChuckU... since you seem to be into making computer graphics, or graphic arts in general... could you tell me what I should do to learn moe about making my own album covers. Which software is the best? (Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator???) Where do you learn how to use these progams? If you know a lot about bitmap programs and vector graphics etc.. then learning a new program like Adobe is probably not such a huge undertaking. But I know nothing about nothing when it comes to computer graphics. Where do I start?

Whoops

Sorry Slack... I just went and read the FAQ and saw the pictures. Looks fucking cool man. Good job. The fact that I am on this site EVERYDAY and still never saw that it was released pisses me off... but it looks good.

Well dude, there is a forum dedicated to nothing but information about the Comp CD. For the past 2-3 months it has had a huge amount of activity. When there are new messages in a forum, a little light goes on. Also, I spammed about the CD in the cave twice, and Ed posted a message in every single forum on the BBS. Then some other guys went and bumped every single one of Ed's posts, so really, no matter what forum you're in, if you were here in the past 2 months, I find it hard to imagine you missing it.

We were actually going to advertise it more, but by the time the advertising came together, I was sold out. That's the way she goes.

As of now I only have about 2 people who want a second run, and everybody else wants to move on. I also think we should move on. We may resell Volume One sometime in the future.

BTW, if I had started a mailing list, it would have been about 500 people long. That's a bit extreme to sell 75 CD's, especially when most people come around saying "ooooh I want one" and then disappear from the face of the BBS.

Pisces, I kind of taught myself Photoshop, but I have a friend who's pretty good at it and he helped me out a bit. Once you understand layers you'll open up a lot of doors. I taught myself 3DStudio Max with the help of a book by SAM's. I'm sure there's a SAM's Teach Yourself Photoshop in 7 days or something. I did this attachment for another friend's band and they put it on a tee shirt. They are currently recording a CD (not at my place - Bastards!) Hopefully they'll use this....

The background is 3Dstudio. The ape is a jpg and the text was done in Photoshop

Slack, where's my CD? Gimme gimme gimme......:D

Nice cover ChuckU.

Pisces, two things:

First: Depending on your cash situation, there is an excellent program called GIMP that you might want to look in to. It's open source and thus, it's free. I've personally never used Photoshop because I can't afford it, but I've gotten great results with GIMP.

There are also some good tutorials on the web. One of the better ones is called "Grokking the GIMP" or something like that. It gives good info about effectively using different tools in GIMP.

Second: I also missed the announcement about Vol. 1 despite checking the BBS farily often. Sucks to be us.
