The input mic sound is picking up very low, how can i raise the db meters?

You will need a mic pre-amp to amplify the mic signal before it goes into your soundcard.

actually...
(judging by your post amount)
Go to Windows Recording Mixer.. either directly From CoolEdit's "Settings" Tab in Multi track,
or from Control Panel, where its listed as "Sound" or something...
even on the bottom right toolbar, there may be a spearker icon..
well..once in that..
click the "Recording" Tab..
and select microphone...
There should be an "Advanced" Tab...
In there there is an option for "Mic Boost"
which boots your incoming signal by +20 db...
