what i want to know is after recording vocals they should be almost perfect, yes?

what would you do after?

eq, de essing, compression, limiter etc.. etc..

i just know the basics on such of these things. can anyone help me out with the vocal process?

peace

Newbie section. It could take all month to go into this vague topic. You record the vocals dry, add some spice (efx, compression) and then call it a day.

if you can search (top right) you won't get witspew directions like (legend in his own mind) "mr vague shit himself" attempting to direct you...

most all your anwsers are here, it just takes a little search/reading...

Yo Blunt:

When doing your vocals, put the reverb in the cans but do not record the reverb.

This will give the talent singing a nice feeling of "power." Most folks who do vocals in my studio dig the reverb in the cans.

Later, when I'm mixing, I can change the reverb or tweak it, etc.

I have not used much compression in vocals. I had a desser but filed it away in my dugeon of old gear. The 2816 has plenty of that stuff but I find a good mic and a good recording setup and lots of patience when mixing will get what I want.

I don't know what those are.
