Vocal Mic Suggestions

Hey, I'm new to these forums so hello.

I will be soon buying a vocal microphone for male vox and perhaps floor tom (if the e604 doesn't cut it, but mainly for vocals). There are so many different mics out there in the same price range so I'm having a hard time choosing seen as i don't have much experience with them.

My vocal style is similar to that of the killers, so poppy i guess. But I also need it to handle more intricate vocals on certain songs similar to that of Villagers.

I was thinking of a Blue Bluebird or even a Studio Projects B1. Any advice/comments/reviews greatly appreciated.

About 250 euro (I'm in Ireland) which works out as about 350 US dollars. A little more or less doesnt really matter
 
Well there sure is a lot of talk about the Stellar CM-6 as a great microphone. Take a look at the thread that was started by Kiddvybes on it here in the microphone forum.

Welcome aboard.
I'm waiting for a pair of Blue Bluebirds to arrive so, although I haven't tried them yet, I've been doing a lot of reading.
They get rave reviews.
Where are you to?

If you have spent some time Googling this topic, you will
surely have seen many recommendations for the MXL v67g.

However, there is a related, improved model, which is
getting hard to find, but not impossible, the MXL 9090:

Also, many folks have been finding the MXL 2003a,
or the "black chrome" version, MXL cr24 to be a
good vocal mic, for some voices. Those are bundled
with an "instrument mic" as well, the MXL 603.

There are lots of options in that price range. The real answer is whatever makes your vocals sound good. You can use almost any mic on floor toms. I presume you mean recording as opposed to live mics. Some excellent choices:

AKG C2000B (no, not 3000B, and not the Perception series)
Oktava MK319
Shure SM7b (in Erin, you might have to go used to do that)- It is a little large for a tom mic, though.
AKG D112 (you'll be surprised as all hell to find out it's a pretty good vocal mic)
Sennheiser MD421

Most people don't listen to me, but the C2000B is a perfectly lovely vocal mic, and is recommended by AKG engineers over the far more expensive C414 on toms. Also great on cabs, djembe, congas, or pretty much anything that you smack with your hands or a stick. Good luck-Richie
