darkangel, if you really want to save $$... (under $100 total)

There's a member here who has "first dibs" on my mint Shure Beta 57A, if he decides not to take me up on buying it right now,
let me know via "private message" if you'd like to have the next shot at it before it hits e-bay soon. (otherwise you can buy it there)

Whatever microphone you get, if you get one that's hot like the
Beta series, you won't need as much gain from a mixer's pre.
That'll keep the sound cleaner. (unless you have access to a SSL) :)

Thanks
Chris

Yes it is I "Electro-voice Man"

Hey Electro voice has been using the same technoligy in the Beta-58 and 57 for years. I would try out some N/D series mics from EV.
These are not the same as cobalt mics. I agree with that you should try a few out at the store, but take other people with you who's opinion you trust. Judging a mic while singing is like mixing your self live. You hear so much sond travel through your head you can't tell the real sound of the mic.

PS I think the 57 is a very good mic for recording voc's, drums, and guitar. It just wouldn't be my first shoice for live. But I'm sure Tom Petty would dissagree with me:D

off subject

This is a little off subject but i just wanted to know where everyone was finding shure 58's and 57's used. It seems in my experience that not alot of people are getting rid of these mics. I check ebay all the time and nothing ever comes up. Maybe im just unlucky or not searching right lol.
