i'll give you the skinny (this is my first post, btw *bows* :P ):

i just recently got a br-8 and it's working rather smoothly. i do have one problem though - the vocals aren't coming out as loud as i'd like them to. well, in saying that, it's usually not bad when you do the mic part separately but when you have guitar and mic running at once the vox come out very quiet. why is this? i'm using an sm58 and everyone familiar with this machine will know i can't utilize xlr because of the lack of that kind of input on the boss (damn them!) is there anything else i'm missing out? help would be appreciated, as i start recording my demo today.

thanks in advance.

Did you make sure that your vocal recording levels were high enought? You adjust the gain just like you would for a guitar track. It would be better to get a Roland DR-10 or DR-20 mic to use with the BR-8. The EQ of those mics matches the effects EQ of the vocal effects in the BR-8.

yeh, the levels were fine...to be honest, it was better today. the dual option though (recording mic/guitar at the same time...k, so i don't know the official term for it...shot me :) ) seems to make the vocals quite low. have anyone else found this problem? it can make live recording practically impossible, as you almost always need to go back and redo the vocal for extra gain.

i dunno, maybe i'm just lousy with the 'keep it simple' equipment...

Tell you the truth, I don't think the BR-8 is really for "live" recording. I brought it because I write songs for my band and it's great for creating and recording alone. I always do a "scratch" vocal while laying down the rhytum guitar track, after doing the guitar track, I record a vocal track.
