Hello,
I have owned cool edit pro for a while and I was wondering if anyone could help me with my little problem.

I have a thing that enables me to import my old records into cool edit pro, but the problem is that when I do this all the levels from the records go wrong. I solved this problem by importing the records through my mixer, but when I do this it is different everytime because of the mixing levels. I would like to skip this process if possible.

Thanks for your help.

First I have to ask why you use another program for recording your vinyl? By importing them you mean recording them? I think that you have your line in levels set too high on recording, sometimes Cool Edit's level monitors are a little off on recording, mine by almost -6db. I have my line in level monitor thru my system mixer open when I set up an album for recording just for this reason so I can see what the difference is between the two. When you record vinyl anything you do to it will degrade the sound so you want to do just what is needed. You will also have to re-set your levels alot because of the quality of the recording or lack of it. One album will record at one level another higher or lower there is no way around it depending on the record it could be mono 4track, 8track ect ect. I have found there is usually a timeline that you can find in records and almost any record recorded in 1968 will sound close to any other in the same timeline and you can probably get away with not messing with the levels too much or not at all, whereas one from 1978 there is no way it will be much louder because of the technology gap between them. I also recommend you check out a plugin for CEP called clickfix it is 100 times faster then the fixclick in cep and ten times that in accuracy.
