these are posts (in dated order) of my troubles about installing a new agp video card and a new 160gig HD...they are from another forum, but so far i need more help, can anyone here help?! haha.
windows XP
A7V333 KT333 VIA motherboard
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
alright. now i'm really going crazy.
i put in my video card just a bit ago (i'm having to type this on a different computer). I can't, for the love of god, install any drivers without it crashing and going to the infamous blue screen of death.
It's an ATI Radeon 9200 64MB AGP video card. It replaced an NVIDIA card.
The CD won't fininsh installing, windows can't install it itself, the online version of "catalyst" (new ATI driver software) won't even finish unpacking without it saying that it is corrupted!
anyone got any ideas?!?!?!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i cant even turn on my computer now.
i mean, i can, but man
after trying to install the drivers for all that:
safe mode starting up = freezes as it starts to come up.
normal start up = XP goes to an automatic CHKDSK thing, cuz it says my drive C is now messed up,and it freezes at 34 percent. what the hell. i cant even start the piece of shit!!! i gotta get that running, i record on it! for the love of god help me! liam!??! haha...but i'm very serious.
can i just put back my old one in there and pray to god that it starts normally again? ha. and after that, how can i get my ATI installed?!?!
and now the HD woes...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just got a 160gig HD to add to my comp.
Drive C = 60 gig (came with the comp, never touched it, has all system files on it, etc.)
Drive F = the one that I am replacing. it used to be a 40 gig drive. i just put in the 160.
When I put in the 160gig drive, it says it can't read from disk please insert system disk, or whatever. And I go to bios and look at the boot order, and IDE drive is just rediculous combination of numbers/letters or NONE (it doesnt list either drive as being there, just that rediculous combination)!
the cord is in right, it's the only way it will go in!!
Must I update bios? (I have heard i need to do this for new large size drives). In addition, I have no idea how to update bios it seems to compliocated...ha.
any ideas?
please help asap! haha.

well CHKDSK seemed to have fixed my HD...now i'm still working on the video card.
it seems now that anytime XP trys to install my drivers, the error is always "access is denied." WHAT!? I AM the only user, and the administrator. so that is rediculous.
I downloaded the newest drivers from ATI's website, and it says that I should first try to install generic VGA drivers before it will let me continue the installation. this is just rediculous!!!
any ideas?!~?!?
