Not sure where to post this.......Hope it fits.
I have Sony DCR-VX2100 cameras, and wanted to use them for video feed to a mixer for live fading/mixing of music performances.........
My problem is with the cameras themselves...... They have a stinking "demo mode" built in that is a factory default set to "standby" mode..... Example: If I want to mount a camera high, say a ceiling mount for overhead shots, I need to remotely "cut" the power for on/off operation (I can't very well climb a ladder each time I want to turn the camera on). However, the camera will "reset" to factory defaults every time I turn it off by cutting the power remotely......If I turn it on and off using the thumb-switch on the back of the camera, it will stay "off". SOooooooo, I can't use this model for anything other than hands on locations. Bummer, since my best shots come from overhead considering my studio set-up.
I need some experienced input on good cameras (camcorders) that will NOT give me this kind of grief when using them in a "constant-on" setting..... I'm basically using them as live TV production cameras on a budget, and can't have some goofy demo kick in every time the power is cut.
HELP........... Need some suggestions. Ready to pull my hair out.
I don't have big bucks for Pro TV cameras right now.............need the best low budget solution.
Thanks for any input...................
