vf80 virtual tracks??

hey i have a question i need ansered before i try to bounce tracks for the first time. If i am unhappy with the mix later on, i want to be able to mess with it, so how do i save my 6 origional tracks to "virtual tracks"? also, are there any other tips i should consider before bouncing? thanks alot for any help!!! -sean
 
I suggest you "read your manual" ... this is a fairly basic operation.

However, it is simply a matter of pressing "setup", and selecting "exchange" (track exchange).

You then tell the machine which tracks you want to exchange. Unfortunately you cannot copy from track to track though.
 
I should add:

the best method for you would be to bounce tracks 1-6 down to tracks 7-8 (as it seems you already know how to do).

Then I'd save that mix - by pressing "scene". Call it mix 1 or something.

Then, you can say swap tracks 7-8 with tracks 9-10....and then you will have 2 empty tracks to do another mix on.

Just take a note of what you do each time.

The vf80 doesnt really have "virtual" tracks as such. It simply has 16 more tracks you can record on. They arent like virtual tracks where you can select "take 1, take 2 etc." You have to physically swap tracks 1-8 with any of the other tracks in order to access them.

thanks for the advice, but that was exactly what i was having trouble with. When i go to copy/paste a track my only options seem to be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, and 7+8. Am i missing something here?
 
Copy / paste it to one of those and then use Track Exchange to move it to somewhere between 9 and 24.

9-24 won't play back, you have to swap them back into 1-8, but it's useful for trying different takes, and they can be dumped to a PC.
