hi
i'm currently trying to integrate a fostex vf80 multitrack into my
midi setup. my (antiquated) weapons of choice are cubase v2.0 for my upgraded st,
& udo weyer's complete cubase manual. and i'm having problems...

so far, i've only used the synchronization menu to select "send
midiclock: atari" to run loops on old roland kit, and it's all been
fine but...

the multitrack allows you to select either mtc or midiclock as an
external sync, and also offset values. in both modes, with cubase as
master and vf80 as slave the following happens: the record channel
is armed manually, and i press play on cubase. after the offset
time, the vf80 "slave" light stops flashing, becomes solid, and its
transport bar runs in sync with cubase. what doesn't happen is that
the record light doesn't become solid, and audio is not recorded.

in normal manual mode it's a case of press play whilst holding down
record to start recording - both lights are then solidly lit and
recording starts. cubase doesn't seem to be sending it's play/start
signal to do this.

if multitrack is armed and waiting for clk/mtc start signal to start
recording (i'm following same procedures for manual record arming)
and i can see it lock to sequencer and the clock start running
following relevant offsets(mtc time/bar value) how can i actually
make it record!

if anyone can take me throught the necessary settings in the sync
menu i'd be very grateful. someone in another forum suggested to
chechk what cubase 2.0 has in terms of "chase lock" and
it's "start/stop" functionality. i can only find "chase event" and
am not really sure what there is to "start/stop" beyond the obvious.
the vf80 starts & stops with cubase - it just doesn't start
recording!

thanks

gavin
