VF160ex only recording on left channel

Hey all,
I'm new here and I have my friends VF160ex and no matter what channel I record on, it only pans on the left. I have tried to record it on the right pan and nothing records.
I've looked through the entire manual and there is nothing.
I'm just recording a vocal performance.

The VF doesn't record L/R---it just records the track. Panning is for playback or mixdowns.

Where are you tapping your output signal?
