Alright, so after searching forums on the VF-160ex (and trying to look in the manual) I cannot find a way to output the metronome to a different track.

My problem is that I would like to use 2 XLR mics at the same time (without buying any 1/4" adaptors) while the click track is playing. I want the track 15 mic to record to track 1, and the track 16 mic to record to track 2. Is there a way to set everything up so the click track will play while the track 16 mic records?

Thanks in advance...hope I'm not just being dumb about this, i love the machine.

I've not used the click in a while, but just arm tracks 7 and 8 for the mic, and have the click on 15. Then after recording, track exchange 7 and 8 to 1 and 2. Or do a BUSS record from the 7/8 inputs to 1/2, and just leave the click on 15. I hope this is what you're asking.

I think Bill's track exchange is the only way to do it, basically using 'direct record'.

You can't use buss record because to do so, channel 16 must be set to input, and the metronome only works when channel 16 is set to track.

I use an external drum machine as a click, much better because you can set a tempo AND a groove.

Thanks for the help...i completely spaced on just direct recording to 7/8 with the XLRs. Silly me.
