I have a vf-16, and my friend has a Roland VS-1680. Is the sound that goes into the vf-16, the sound that comes out? His recordings come out literally 10 times better than mine. He has been recording alot longer than me though. Is it his expierience or his VS-1680 thats making all the difference in the world?

Thanks

Hey Jager, think about the mics, pre amps, room size, monitors for mixing, the techniqes you use to record.Everything plays a part in the overall end sound. And experience does help but you should be able to achieve a great sound with your machine.I love mine.:)

Thanks for the advice. I get so frustrated sometimes because i cant get the sound thats in my head, on tape. Recording is alot tougher than i ever thought it would be.

:)

I think thats why we love it so much!!!Keep trying to get those sounds with whatever equip.you have. You'll eventually come up with new ones.:)

Im not sure you ever get the sound thats in your head, kind a like a woman, you alwasy have to settle for second best. We been gettin some pretty good sound with it, expeience has alot to do with it.

The sound never sounds right untill I do the EQ on each track after I record. THEN I'm very satisfied. I have written the EQ levels I use for the snare, each vocal and instruments on a paper and can usually get close to what I want very quickly . The VF-16 doesn't have a good bass EQ... I haven't tried to EQ in the computer yet. Jim
