Very new to home recording, specifically DP-008.
I read a lot of comments by others from here and other sources. I have some questions about them.
"1. Record your 2-channel track to a Song file, overdubbing as many additional tracks as you please. The Song file is not playable by standard players like Windows Media Player. Create a Master file from your Song file. This is where you use the Reverb, Pan, and Level knobs. It is done in real time, which is a pain for long recordings."
I have recorded 4 tracks - 2 at a time. I used Reverb, Pan, and Level knobs for the individual tracks. I used reverb, pan, and level while recording individual tracks. On playback you can still adjust these. Does the above mean that reverb, pan, and level for each track is adjustable until you create a Master file? Do not follow why this is a pain?
"2. Reverb is pretty decent, too. More than I expected at this price point. I liked that the reverb isn't recorded during the actual recording. If you want to use its reverb, you need to mix it down with the reverb level of your liking (so exported individual tracks won't have reverb by default)."
This one really got me. Seems to mean that if you convert individual tracks to WAV for export that they will not be exported with reverb and you will have to re-reverb them in your DAW?
"3. Connect to your PC and collect your booty from the DP-008. Import/export/backup: When importing/exporting/backing up track(s) and song files: You should not have to manually rename files each time they are moved. The existing file name should be the default."
I have not imported, exported, or backed up any files. Does this mean if you do any of these you have to assisn new file names? I think this person is just mixed up. For other things you do go to a screen that let's you change file names but you can just skip it. Am I right in assuming that the exisiting file name is actuall the default for import/export/backup?
