Okay, I don't know if its my computer, but Ive been having various problems with parts of cubase that Im hoping to clarify. And theyve been happening since day one, ive just grown used to them.

1) Every time I open a new project or start one, I always have to do devices > and manually select ASIO even though its already highlightd. Press switch, and then OK and then the sound comes through the mics and I can hear whats already been recorded. If I don't do this, no sound will show in cubase, though my Lambda will clearly show mic activity.

2) If this ASIO is on and cubase is open and everything, whenever I try to use anything else that requires sound, ie Windows Media player, youtube, etc. The sound will only work in cubase until I close it, and then sound will work in other programs. This is vice versa too when I have other stuff open and cubase will not have sound. And it only happens with cubase, ie I can have Windows media player open and still have sound from youtube.

3) For some odd reason, whenever I do a process on a clip, such as stereo flip or something, itll do it fine, but then give me an error. It says it saves the file under ____-01 with the new process already done, and that if I dont restart cubase, it will freeze. And it does. The original file without the "-01" just contains everything I did before I saved last. Thankfully it just freezes cubase and not the computer. Its been doing this since always and makes editing kind of harder because I have an even more limited options.

4) This hasnt happened before now, but somehow I think one of my cubase files got currupted. I can play the song fine, however, when I recorded over a certain tiny spot where I spliced two clips together, it froze when I tried to stop. Sound still came out, but it completely froze and I was forced to restart. How do I know it was this spot? I did a recording test before and after the edited spot, and both worked fine. It was only until it passed through that spot did it freeze. It ended up doing that again in another part of the song and its hugely annoying to restart. Oh and it doesnt save or anything obviously.

Before anyone asks, this is a registered version, and it came with my Lambda, so I didnt download it or anything.

"1)" sound familiar. I have to do that occationally, but not everytime. Maybe once every 2 weeks.

"2)" is due to the fact the ASIO driver is in use. Cubase will take the audio driver, and use it to output signals to the sound card. While it is doing this, other applications cannot access it because it is in cubase. To get around this problem I purely use my lexicon driver inside cubase, and use my computers other sound card (in this case a sound blaster) for all other windows apps. To change this, go to control panel, sounds/devices, and set the default sound device to your computer sound card. Now, inside cubase set your default driver to your lexicon ASIO. This might have the added effect of solving problem 1)

If you could give us some details about your PC (spec, etc) it might help more.

Sure, its a Dell Inspiron ME051, Intel(R) Celeron (R)M processor, 1.40GhZ, 760 MB RAM

Thats what it says in the properties at least.
