I bought one I think 2 years back and it was defective and ended up taking it back. Reallly noisy.

I did like the tone though, if you really need 50 watts tube then its not a bad way to go, but you may be able to find something lower wattage thats a little higher quality for the same price.

I ended up with a used Peavey Ultra 112 and I love it. A lot heavier (iterally and tonewise) than the valveking. The valveking would lean more towards bluesy rock and cleans I would say. Great cleans now that I think about it.

BTW, yes it does. I'm (slowly :)) gravitating toward a combo-duty amp (and hopefully not setting myself up for too much in the way compromizes in tone)- a low watt class A primarily for harp and guitar recording, and a versaltile small gig guitar rig.
I play clean' way more often than not so your comments re the Peav' are wellcome. I run a Pearce rack/sepparates that serves that end well.. but have nothing in tube. :eek: :) The little Mesas features look interesting. At 3 times the price!

Listen to the song 56. The guitar is a 1994 fender strat plus using the valve king 112. It was recorded using a shure sm57 on the grill and a MXL v69 mogami edition placed about 1 foot behind the 57.

I actually prefer the tone of this compared to the peavy classic 50, heres a recording of the classic 50.

Thanks for that. After wading through a bunch.. looks like the 'A-A/B' thingy a) :p-- may not vary the output at all, (i.e not a 'dual wattage amp?) and b) has very little affect. Found some on what a- a/b ought to do but nothing on what this one is doing. Hmm.
