...or do nothing...fine as it is, but I like the louder lead breaks...even with the band too ramping up.

yeah... limited audience on this one too. Don't think I could play it in the lobby at the resort I work at!

I dunno, I'm pretty set on how the vocals are. If you do it at your resort gig though, feel free to change it up if you need or want to. :D

Rats. I got through the first verse and had to power down. My daughter came home with a friend for a sleep over and they immediately flocked to the pc..."what're you listening to?"..."uh, nothing!". Not that it's that bad or anything, but your vocals are crystal clear on this so there's no ambiguity about what's being said.

Sound quality overall was really awesome from what I heard of it though. I'll try to give it a listen again later.

What makes this stand out is great song craft, bud. You've taken punk pop sensibility, added a twist of humor, stuck it all in a blender w/ a dash of atonal spice and wound up with very appealing result. You know I'm not a fan of this genre, but this piece exudes wry charm.

The worst thing about it is that there isn't any radio station anywhere that will have the guts to spin it. :)

There's nothing groundbreaking about the chords in that song. It's just a simple basic 60's bubble-gum pop style progression. I listened to a lot of old Phil Spector stuff when I was looking for direction on that song, and of course I'm heavily influenced by the Ramones, so their Spector produced album "End of the Century" got a lot of listening time too. My Tourettes Queen is the end result. I must say I'm pretty happy with it. It came out pretty much exactly as I had hoped it would.

I had another listen and realise I was thinking of another riff I heard that day! My Tourettes Queen is still your best IMHO, I love the chord progression and see what you're talking about - reminds me a lot of the Beach Boys.

I never know what to say on some of your recent tracks other than that, theyre perfect....one thing that I notice is that its near impossible to guess its one person, especially during parts with backing vocals...youre a one man ball of talent dude :listeningmusic:

Haha thanks a lot Kev. Yeah I don't even think about radio play. I haven't sincerely listened to the radio for music since about 1984. I discovered punk rock because my mom bought me a Ramones album by mistake for my birthday (she meant to get me a Romantics record. Lol) and everything happening at the time immediately became irrelevant to me. Been that way ever since. Besides, the internet has killed radio. Seriously, besides news or sports talk, there's no reason to even grab the airwaves. I don't even know the radio stations in my city of 5 million people. All I know is that everywhere on the dial is shit. I just stream music through my phone plugged into my car stereo. :D

Thanks again dude. Yeah I can maybe see a Beach Boys comparison. They're early/mid 60's, and that's about the style I was going for with that song. Simple and poppy bubble-gummy. And really most of the stuff that inspires me as a player and writer was made by bands inspired by 50's and 60's bands.

Thanks bud. :) I'm just trying to keep getting better. I'm paying more attention to guitars and vocals these days, which I didn't really do too much of before. My vocal abilities and guitar skills aren't very strong, but I try to make sure I do what I can do as good as I can. :D

Yup, castanet. It's a real one by the way, but it's on a stick. I bought some traditional finger castanets, but those bitches are hard as shit to play. So I returned them and bought some castanets-on-a-stick. They're way easier to deal with like that. Just give it a little shake and slap it against your palm. Perfect castanet sound...on a stick. :D

Speaking of Sloop John B, I did a cover of that one a long time ago. Came out real good. Lemme see if I can find it.......
 
My mad auntie used to have loads of castanets in her house (I think she must have been to Spain sometime), proper finger ones and some on a stick - they're really hard to play properly. They sound great - what sort of mic did you record them with?

Lol. The traditional finger castanets were a bitch for sure. They're pretty easy on a stick. You just gotta get your timing right.
