well, any tips? use buss outputs? turn off eq when recording? I'm not at home now, but i've got to look at my settings again.I've got something turned on/off that I shouldn't have.

The shortest, cleanest path to tape is best. I use an assortment of stand alone mic pre's and a few out of my mixer, depending on what I'm looking for. Just my opinion but I like to record as flat as I can and go through the least amount of circuitry as possible. The only time I'd use the buss outs of the mixer is when I want to group two or more mics to a track or pair of tracks.
