I just picked up a V-AMP Pro at a pawnshop, it is in perfect condition with the exception that someone swiped a couple knobs off while it was on display there. They were asking $99, and I got it for $50 with a 30 day gaurantee. Sweet deal. I am going to call behringer and see how much the missing knobs are.

Anyway, I have never used SP/DIF into my Audiphile 2496, so I just spent about 30 minutes figuring out how to make it work, and figured I would post it, so the search can pick it up for anyone that comes along and has trouble doing this. It isn't exactly plug and play.

1st, you need to go to the 'Digital Out' setup on your V-AMP pro, (get there by holding down A and B together), then hit TAP until the display shows SP. This is all on page 6 of the V-AMP manual. The default wordclock seting for the V-AMP pro is 44.1, and this works fine for the 2496. You can change that to 48, or 96 if you want to by using the arrow keys). Hit tuner to exit.

Now you launch the M-audio Delta Control Pannel from your PC's control panel. Then you go to the Hardware Settings tab. Change the master clock from internal, to SP/DIF in. Change the Codec Sample rate to 44.1 ( or to match what you set your V-AMP pro.) Now when you switch the SP/DIF tab, it should say Valid Input Detected. There was one more problem I had to solve. The levels coming in to my PC were not high enough (-12 was the highest), and reading up on it, this is what you have to do. Go to the Patchbay/Routher tab (still in the delta control panel) and set the H/W 1/2 to SP/DIF in, not monitor Mixer. And in your recording app, set the recording source to SP/DIF in, not monitor mixer. This fixed the recording levels, and I was then able to record digitally from my V-AMP pro using SP/DIF. You can save this setup in the Delta Control panel, and save your non SP/DIF config and switch back and forth easily.

Hope this helps out.

Yeah, I've got the same set up and it tool me a bit to get there but I finally stumbled on the same exact settings you have.

You can also access the S/PDIF V-Amp setting using the V-Amp editor software under configuration.

Good post!

And if you ever boot up your computer, and your sound is all messed up, make sure the V-AMP Pro is on, or set your delta clock back to "internal."

Took me a while to figure that out. ;)

lol.
Yea, I discovered that too. It sounds like white noise. That's where saving the configuration in the DELTA control panel comes in. You can save your usual config, save that, then set it up for SP/DIF, then save that one and you can switch between the two in one click. It is worth doing if you use SP/DIF alot.
