HI

I would like to know the best method to set up a small studio with my equipment. If possible I would like to sync up my Yamaha AW4416 with my computer runnng cubase, my midi keyboard and drum machine so I can record on both the Yamaha, and Computer.. Can anyone tell me the best connections to connect the yamaha and computer, using midi out in and thru etc and if it is possible.

Thanks

LEe

Sorry man, I hate to see a request go unanswered, but I don't know anything about the AW4416. Looking at this brochure:

http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/Documents/ProAudio/aw4416.pdf

On page 5, Sample application number 3 shows the AW4416 integrated (by way of the "to host" output) with a computer recording/sequencing environment, which sounds like what you want to do. So, it looks like it is possible. Actually doing it, of course, is whole 'nuther thing. The brochure also indicates that the AW4416 can generate or accept a midi clock signal, so that you could keep sequencing software in synch, but again, the details are gonna be in the manua(s), and I suspect it will be a little bit complicated.

BTW - That looks like a really nice piece of hardware, so figuring out how to make it do what you want may be frustrating, but that's a nice kind of problem to have! I'm envious.:D

Good luck,

J

I think you'll struggle. I've avoided MIDI for years so I know little about it, however I do have an AW4416 - it doesn't really interface with much at all - pre-USB, as you'll know, so the only way to get things off it is via burned disk.

I know that's not what you're trying to do. Sorry I can't be of more help. The AW4416 forum on social entropy shut down years ago too, but the archive was still there last time I checked, so google that up and see what's there.

What exactly are you using Cubase for, in this set up?

The ol' "register, post a question, and disappear into the night" routine again. Come back Mandy! Come back! (Different thread, same MO...)
