Using the Triton Le for live play

Whasup folks! I play a triton le for church service and our drummer is gonna be out for a little while. I have a yamaha board that i'm using for drums but it doesn't have what i need to make a beat with a good grove. I was wondering how could i sequence drums to play while i play a regular sound, like piano. I know there are sounds with drums in the combination section, but i would like to have just a regular piano with drums that i sequence myself. I know i'd have to make a pattern but i'm confused on how to put the pattern and the sound together, and how to choose different patterns. I thought about just putting drums and a piano on the sequencer and looping the drums, but i really don't wanna fill up my memory card with alot of song files when it would take less memory to make one combination. Any help?

Hit the SEQ button and you put drums on Track 1, Keys on Track 2, etc...

You could also use or make an arp drum pattern, then you could just run a combi without messing with the sequencer, and you could just turn the arp on and hit a key to start the drums. Turn the arp off to stop drums. There are drum pattern arps from U115 to U199.

To use a drum pattern arp, pull up a combi, and stick a drum kit in there, usually the last timbre. Go to menu and then Prm1 and put the drums on a different midi channel (2nd param, just shows a number) than everything else, 3 seems to be what the presets use. Then go to Menu -> arp and under the setup tab make sure the drums are the only instrument that use B. Then go to the arp b page and pick a pattern (u115 - u199). Turn on sort and latch, and turn OFF key sync and keyboard. Hit exit to get out of that and back to the main screen, and under the arp b tab make sure under arpeggiator run B is checked.

Then turn the arp on, hit a key, and start browsing through the patterns.

you can try making a combi from scratch, but Id reccomend finding a piano sound you like that has drums with it and just changing the patterns and such from there.

I'm still kinda used to the keyboards that had a "style" button and "voice" button! When i started usin the Korg and Roland type keyboard, i was confused! Does the motif have a better setup for using the drums in live play?

Thanks for the suggestion but i already had went that route. It took up too much space on my memory card to do that. I looped the drums and used a piano sound. The thing i hate about seq mode is that when you choose the drums, they are lower than the keyboard sounds even when i max the volumes on the drum channel. I hate that! I usually just turn the piano sound down to match the drums but that is just irritating to me.

If you select a drum patch first in prog or combi mode then hold the enter button and press the record button it will setup the patch to record in sequence mode with all of the effects then just browse through for an empty channel to put the keys on.

The drums go down in volume mostly because the drums in combi and prog mode are automatically ran through a compressor. You can do it like I said above or manually through the menu button IFX screen.

AWWW MANNN!!! That is messed up man. I've been choosing the sound in seq mode and then copying the effects. Excellent tip dude!!! I feel so stupid. Was that in the manual? I got to sit down and really study that thing because i know the triton is a good board but i haven't learned it fully yet. I really would like the mpc for drums and the triton for everything else, but i'm pretty sure i could manage with the triton(considering the mpc is a couple of g's). I gotta get the sample board so i can load some of my own drum samples to use on the triton.

You could also just use an cheapo external sequencer. I used to use a Roland PMA-5 (the little palm pilot like arrainger) to do backing midi tracks. the yamaha Qy-100 would also be another good choice. PMA5's should be under $100 used
