Hey everybody...

Does anyone use fl studio as a plugin? I need to know the basic strategy for using it this way.

I just want to use my acoustic drum samples in fl to make drum tracks, which I know how to do, and maybe use the boo bass which doesnt sound too bad to do bass tracks, which I can figure out. Apparently fl studio will let me have a seperate bass track with the boo bass which is kinda cool.

Otherwise I will do midi bass parts.

Thanks

I believe you have to use it as a VST plugin. I've done it however the delay on mine is crazy. I only think it is because I upgraded to a server box and the fans are killing processing time.

I do and it works perfectly as a plug-in. Latency can be an issue but no more or less than any other plug-in. Anything less than 10mSecs is acceptable. I have a 2.4Gig pc and I get approx 4 mSec of latency with no drop-outs.

what versions of both (sonar, FL) do you have?

I own SP5 and the newest version of FL; If you own these 2 versions, you should be able to ReWire FL into Sonar. You wouldn't have to deal with latency, and it should be quite a bit more stable than instantiating it as a plug-in.

if i knew how rewire worked, I would say do that, as that seems to be the best route. I just copy the .dll files from FL and put them in the VST file in my Cubase. Works good that way. I do love that BooBass. Now if only I could find a good string sound.....

basically you would have both programs open...

correct me if i'm wrong, but Rewire is a language so that 2 programs can run simultaneously, without interfering with the drivers...

basically it takes the master bus from FL and pipes it through a channel into Sonar...I think there might even be a way to pipe individual channels through into Sonar, but I could be wrong.
