I have a small cinema.
We are using stereo track without noise reduction.
i have bought on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Dolby-Model-360-...itemZ7373167208QQcategoryZ23793QQcmdZViewItem

two dolby 360 with nr for mono track

i want to use them for stero track: is there a way for linking them in the right way for playing a stereo track?

does the two separeted unit works correctly for stereo track?

does it generate some problem?

is there in the stereo film track a predominant track?

thanks

Unlike a dual mono compressor which may have a linking feature to assist in maintaining a more uniform balance of a two track signal going through it, the Dolby units in question appear to be dedicated single track units and in order to ensure uniformity across a two track playback, it is critical that the audio deck being used be internally calibrated first to be as channel matched to its tape formulation or optical film format, which you haven't documented in your post as stating what your audio source format is.

Once the audio source deck is internally set, you can then go ahead and calibrate the Dolby units to your source hardware and there does appear to be level matching pots on the front panel of the Dolby units to facilitate that.

As for your other questions of dominant sound channels on a two track audio, film sound track, there shouldn't be a specific technical difference unless the sound mastering engineers and producers of the film mixed them to be with an artistic bent for favoring on track over the other.

As far as optical sound tracks on 35 mm film or mag-film machines, I don't personally have any experience with them and I suspect that most of the people who frequent this forum would also be in a similar position.

Nice price you scored them for though! :)

I believe these Dolby units would have sold for a couple of grand each when they were new and as far as new stock goes, I believe Dolby is still manufacturing these units so that makes the price you got on them that much more spectacular!

Cheers! :)

Thanks for all.
do you know a way for linking them?
do you know a forum about this topic?
in the back of the unit there is a plug to connect two unit , it is written (link dolby tone)
do you know how does it work?

thanks

Do the units come with a manual?
Have you called Dolby to see if there is a manual in print?

I bet the manual would answer those questions you have.

Cheers! :)
