I am runnig CW 9.03 on a PIV with an intel motherboard using windowns ME. I have problems with my system locking up, particularly when I apply effects. Hyperprism gives me a handful of problems, but waves will not even load. It tells me I am out of memory.

I know everyone is going to bash ME. But Win 98 wont recognize the PIV processor. Any suggestions?

Something is not right. I run CWPA 9 on a 733MHz PIII with Windows ME with no problems. Waves is a bit CPU intensive, but I can run that also without problems.

How much memory do you have? I have 256 in my setup.

Check to see what other programs are running when you start up your system. Shut down anything unnecessary (anti-virus, etc.).

Check out some other threads on optimizing your system. You should be able to easily run CW with FX on your system.

the last time I got that error message cakewalk couldn't find the efx .....I reinstalled on the reccomendation of cake tech support and all was well...it seems to me that it always takes time for the computer to sort out whats going on whenever you upgrade, install, add new and exotic apps to your system.

Good call Kennedy.
I re-installed Waves and it worked. Must not have been installed correctly first time.
