heres the deal: i have a Yamaha MT120 4-track tape recorder and a BOSS br1180 digital 8-track. How can i incorporate the analog sound from my tape recorder to the digital? how would i connect them? will i lose the # of tracks i can use? thanks for any help that can be provided

You can stripe a SMPTE track on your analog 4-track and if your digital recorder has any sort of sync capability, it should be able to sync with it....

You will lose one track on your 4-track that way...........

I find it unlikely that a BR1180 has that functionlity, but I'm open for surprises. :)

Anyway, I don't really think that three tracks of cassette-quality sound will make a huge improvement to your overall sound. If you think your sound is to crisp and clean, then most of it will still be to crisp and clean anyway.

So, if you don't get the sync working, you could try using the MT120 as a mix-down deck, to get some noise and some tape compression onto the mix, with some luck. :)
