I am trying to work with midi data converted from my trinity keyboard. I am using the triton rack for just sounds. I load up the midi data which is fine. I like to work in loops when starting a song, so i have it set to loop after four measures. The problem is each time logic loops it resets the rack to the default instrument. I have tried changing the midi settings in the global mode with no luck. I have even tried using the triton environment that I downloaded from korg and it does the same thing. I am using a midisport 2x2 to send the midi data to the rack from my laptop. Do I just have the midi settings wrong on the rack or is it something I need to change in logic? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I have experienced this problem before, and it frustrated me for a long time before I finally worked out what was causing it for me.

I assume you have a midifile loaded into Logic, and that the channels are split across their respective midi tracks. Actually, you may just be using one channel and one track, it doesn't matter.

It is worth checking out the 'view event list' menu option. I'm not sure where this is in Logic 7; maybe in 'windows' on the menu bar.

The event list lists out all the midi note information, but also any control changes. From what you describe, it is highly likely that there is a program change in that file at the start, so everytime it loops around, the program change is activated.

You can deal with this in two ways; either just delete the program change, or alternatively, change the instrument that it is reverting to to the one you want to hear.

Yes, that sounds like your sequencer is sending a program change message to the Triton at the beginning of each loop.

Your suggestion worked like a charm. Thanks for the help, gecko zzed.
