I posted this to the Yahoo MR-8 forum also ( Anybody interested in that group can go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MR8/)

Sorry if it's redundant, but I'm hoping to get an answer to the following questions:

So, let's say I have a rhythm guitar part on track 1, and I'm recording a vocal on track 2, but it takes me a few attempts to get the vocal take I want. On a cassette machine, I just rewind and perform the take until it's right. On the MR-8 am I using up extra memory when I simply rewind and start again on the same track? (Probably a basic question, but I'm in the beginning stages here.)

Also, does anybody know if the card reader on an HP all-in-one
printer will read the compact flash card from the MR-8. Are card
readers for images and sound files the same or different?

Thanks everybody for tips and sharing ideas. It really helps!

cards

you need to use the delete unused function in the song menu, that will get rid of the extra takes, although i was suprised when using the card reder there was still a few deleted takes on the card?

i have a 5 in 1 card reader, any compact flash card reader will work, just make sure it accepts cf

thanks

Appreciate the tips Dave. I'm gonna give the card reader a try today. This learning curve is making me a bit dizzy, but it's a lot of fun. I'm glad to have this forum for support. Thanks again!

Yes I too found that delete unsused does not free up all of the memory (?!) So it is best just to keep xferring tracks.

thanx

I'm snowed in this weekend, so will be spending alot of time wrestling with this little red gizmo! So far I have successfully saved my first song to PC for back up using the USB port, and I will be trying to put tracks back on MR-8, so I know if/how to do that. Mostly just wanna record some more tunes!
