Hey folks,
I'm so glad to find this site, and equally glad to see a space for newbie questions.
I'm having some problems getting a USB pre-amp to work. I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro on a Windows XP setup and I've tried plugging into both a laptop and desktop.
On my laptop, even after installing drivers, it consistently shows as "not connected" when I check the M-Audio control panel. On my deskstop, it shows up but I have recording problems.
I'm using Audition to record, and, on my desktop, it doesn't get a signal at all. I've changed the mic cable, and even changed mics. I've also checked the settings I know to check in Audition, and set the Fast Track as the 1st recording source.
Still no dice.
The weird part is it records in Audacity. But the levels are really low. I tested an Electro Voice dynamic mic and a Rode condenser, and I have to turn the gain all the way up on the pre-amp to get anything at all. And even then I'd have to boost it significantly within Audacity to make it audible.
This is driving me nuts. I'm sure it's something obvious, but I'm at a loss. Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.
