USB Powered Hub for Mbox 2?

Hi,

I'm setting up a mini studio, and I've got a kind of noisy G5, and no budget at the moment to change it. The good thing is, I have a little room by the studio room where I can have it to avoid the noise problem.

I'm using an Mbox 2. Now, I've tried connecting it to a 15 ft USB extension cable, and it doesn't work nicely, especially when turning the Phantom power on, so I guess it's a power problem. I've read things and I don't seem to find an answer for this.

Will a powered USB hub do the job? I've read about a guy that fried his Mbox 2 doing that, but I also know that some USB hubs have over-power protection...

Other than that, I've got it all ready! And it sounds great!

Thanks for any help, much appreciated

Ehh... it's worth a try, but generally audio devices don't work well on hubs. They tend to cut out and phantom power doesn't always work right. Instead of moving the Mbox away 15 ft, why not just move the mic away 15 ft?
