USB MIDI sucks?

I was told that the USB MIDI breakout boxes really suck compared to the serial interface. Anyone know anything about this?

I've heard great reviews for the USB MIDI/digital audio unit from Roland, the UA-100. It's somewhat pricey relative to the Gina, but it does a lot more. Check it out at:

BTW- USB <is> a serial interface, hence the name: Universal Serial Bus!

Thanks for the tip! I'm using a blue and white mac G3 which is why I made the distinction between USB and the old mac serial port.

Does the Gina do MIDI?

No- but the Roland UA-100 does audio and MIDI via USB! Just a little more dough than the Gina.
